The novel Chains setting is the American Revolution. The American revolution is about the two sides separating and creating thier own nation away from the british. This is the war between the Loylists and Patriots. Revolution is shown throughout the book with the idea of freedom. Both sides wanted to be free. The Patriots want freedom, justice and liberty. Loyalists want freedom too but want it to stay like the old times of slavery, taxes, and monarchs. General Washington is mentioned and known for bringing the Americans to victory. The Locktons were loyalists and thats why they were mad at Isabel, thier slave, for helping the patriots.good points just give more detail 15/25
